Create Peace for Reproductive Health

At Anji , we are tired of women being told that PMS, painful periods, heavy bleeding, irregular cycles, ovulation pain, and many, many more symptoms are just part “of being a woman” – or that these are simply normal changes that a woman should expect as she ages.

We are tired of being told that our choices to improve our bodies are either to go on the pill or to have a hysterectomy.

It is NOT normal to have pain and heavy bleeding. It is NOT normal to lose days out of your month because of PMS or your periods. These are symptoms that you do NOT have to live with.

It is simply about rebalancing your body. When your body is in balance, here is what you should expect to have:

  • The first half of your cycle should last between 12 and 15 days and end in ovulation.
  • You should have only minimal pain at ovulation and it should happen quickly without bloating or without the process going on for days or emotional symptoms.
  • The second half of your cycle should last approx 14 days.
  • Menstruation should begin without symptoms of PMS or spotting, bleeding should be red with minimal clots and last approx 4-6 days and end without spotting.

There are several pieces to the puzzle in terms of putting your body back into balance - emotional and physical.

What – my emotions are part of the problem?

Here’s why:

Your mind and your body are linked together – your body is always listening to what is happening in your mind and your emotions.

Your body ‘reads’ emotion in your body based on chemical messengers that are released when you are experiencing emotion. EVERY single cell in your body has receptors for these messengers – your body is literally tapped into your emotions.

When you feel positive emotions – emotions that make you feel good like joy, happiness, appreciation, etc. – your body purrs right along, knowing that all is well.

But, when you are feeling so-called negative emotions – fear, frustration, anger, etc, - your body reads these as stress and goes into a fight or flight response plan which throws off your body’s daily rhythms. Remember, every cell is listening for these emotions and reacting to them.

This has specific effects on your reproductive system :

 

  • When you are under stress, extra sugar and cortisol (stress hormone) are dumped into your abdomen. As they circulate around your reproductive organs, they wreck havoc with the delicate hormonal balance needed for conceiving
  • Your ovaries sit in a web of nerves responsible for “revving up” your body – when you’re under stress, your ovaries are under stress and can not act optimally
  • When you are under stress, the blood flow throughout your body changes. Your body diverts blood AWAY from non-essential organs such as your ovaries and uterus. Good blood flow is a requirement for developing healthy eggs and a healthy lining.
  • Stress has been shown to cause tubal spasms as well as non-ovualtory months

When your reproductive hormones are out of balance, your organs become out of balance. This leads to more dysfunctional hormones which leads to all of the imbalances that we associate with PMS: bloating, breast tenderness, out of control emotions, crying, pain. The body recognizes these symptoms as more stress – throwing even more oomph into the stress response which further perpetuates the problem.

You CAN stop this cycle.

And, when you do, you WILL create a positive effect on your reproductive system as you bring your body more back into balance.

Here’s what you need to do:

First of all, the goal is BALANCE – everyone is going to experience stress and stressful/negative emotions from time to time. It would just be adding more stress to tell you that you needed to feel positive all the time.

The key to balancing your body is to interrupt the times of stress and negative emotions with periods of peace. This gives you both short term and long term successes:

Short Term Success - When you interrupt the stress cycle, your body gets a chance to relax and to reset itself. You will be able to feel better emotionally AND physically no matter part of your cycle you are in.

Long Term Success – When you make creating peace a regular part of your routine, you will find that many of your symptoms will disappear without having to do anything else. Peace builds more peace which makes your body resistant to stress and negative emotions. PLUS, you will find that you are better able to deal with the stressors in your life.
