How can there possibly be peace after you have lost a baby? People offer many platitudes after a miscarriage:

It was for the best…..
At least you didn’t have a chance to really know your child…..
God needed another angel…..

These statements don’t provide peace. Perhaps they give the ot her person peace in what they view as an awkward situation – maybe that is easier to believe than to think that they are as heartless and disconnected as those platitudes make them seem.

What you really want is your baby to be in your arms. How can you feel peace when your arms ache?

As difficult as it sounds, learning to give yourself a place of peace allows you to step out of the situation that you would never imagined yourself in ~ even if it is only for a few moments.

In that place of peace you can connect with the hopes and dreams that you had for your child.

You can grieve.

You can just be.

By giving yourself this gift you give your body a chance to begin the healing process.

When you are constantly under the stress of grief, your body begins to work against you. Your body sees the constant grief as a stressor and initiates the stress response.

  • The stress response throws off the balance of your hormones which impacts all the systems of your body.
  • Your emotions, which are understandably up and down, become even more erratic when your hormones are out of balance.
  • On top of everything else, your body recognizes these other symptoms as symptoms of stress, creating more stress hormones.

This is a cycle that’s hard to pull out of even in the best circumstances.

By finding your place of peace, you can begin to honor the life that was within you and as difficult as it is to imagine, to be able to put yourself in a place to begin to mend the hole in your heart.

At Anji , we understand that this is incredibly difficult to do on your own – that is why we are here.

We have worked hard on creating a set of guided meditations that help women through the journey from conception through pregnancy. But, while we have worked with many women who have experienced loss, we have yet to develop a specific product that we are comfortable putting out for dealing with loss, because while there is pain with each and every miscarriage, there are so many thoughts and feelings and needs that are different for each person.

Instead, we offer a program for dealing with loss. Here are our recommendations:

For the days…

  • when you feel so lost that you aren’t sure how you are going to be able to move forward, or
  • when you keep thinking that you have healed and then your sadness hits you even harder than before, or
  • when you feel like you loss is keeping you from trying again – even though you really want to start trying

… we suggest sessions with Jennifer, the founder and president of Anji .

These sessions help you to clear away the intense pain you are feeling. They help you to begin to see light for yourself. They help you to figure out what the next steps are.

The Anji 4-Step Process:

Relax – get quiet so that you can hear what your body, mind, and spirit are really saying.  Create a place of peace where you can go no matter what feelings of worry or fear are present. Allow yourself a few moments when peace can come to you, instead of having to constantly seek it out yourself.

Release – let go of thoughts, behaviors, emotions, that no longer serve you.  Learn to slowly let go of all the extra negative emotion surrounding your loss. Letting go of the emotion does not mean that you are making light of your history, or forgetting this child or children, or disrespecting your history. Instead, it helps you heal your heart, and feel more comfortable moving forward.

Renew – fill up with what you DO want ~ reconnect with who you want to be ~ Get back more of you.

Reconnect – commit to put it all into daily practice and learn how to keep feeling this way in your day-to-day life. Allow your body to come into balance so that if and when you are ready to conceive another child, that you maximize your fertility.
